You will also be given a pink slip of paper known as your Temporary Driver’s License. That license will contain information on how to contact the DMV. You will NEED to contact the DMV in order to request an administrative per se hearing which will determine whether your license should be suspended or not. At court, most DUI defendants are charged with two counts: (1) Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, in violation of California Vehicle Code Section 23152(a); (2) Driving with a .08 or higher blood alcohol concentration (BAC), in violation of California Vehicle Code Section 23152(b). If you are convicted in Los Angeles, you are most likely facing 3 years summary probation. Further you will be required to take AB-541 class, that is, a 3-month alcohol education program. If your BAC was significantly high, you may be required to take the 9-month alcohol class. You will also pay significant fines in the ballpark area of $2000.
